Collection: Sand Dollar II Collection

The sand dollar fossils I source come from a family who sources them from a man in Mexico who does the lapidary for them. He travels by bus to southern Mexico and buys them from another older gentleman who literally forages the fossils, formed by sand dollars 34-55 million years ago, from the side of a cliff in Chiapas.  Every few months he's able to collect some, but only about three to four out of every ten turn into quality sand dollars.  He hasn't been able to travel recently due to the pandemic and there has been a supply shortage, so once I get through these I'm not sure when or IF there will be more.  I've been collecting and hoarding these for over a year.  They are so unique that only about three out of ten make gem quality status and go on to be used in hand made treasures.
